To be enrolled as a member of Ipilwan Ketzalkoatl, you must meet all requirements for membership as outlined in Article IV of our official constitution.

If you meet the requirements listed in Article IV, and are interested in being enrolled as a member, please contact our enrollment committee by filling out the following form:

 

ARTICLE IV – MEMBERSHIP

 

Section 1. Base Members: The base membership of the Ipilwan Ketzalkoatl (Children of the Plumed Serpent) shall consist of (1) all persons of Mesoamerican descent who can trace the arrival of their families to what is now New Mexico prior to 1912. (2) All lineal descendants of those members who are enrolled prior to the adoption of this Constitution, who demonstrate Mesoamerican heritage and identity. (3) All individuals related to those members via adoption.

Section 2. Future Membership: (1) Any lineal descendant of a base enrollee as set forth in section 1, who has a common bond or association with the Ipilwan Ketzalkoatl (Children of the Plumed Serpent), may, upon application, be enrolled as a member of the Ipilwan Ketzalkoatl (Children of the Plumed Serpent). (2) Only those persons who possess a demonstrable degree of Mesoamerican ancestry, reside in New Mexico or southern Colorado, and share a common bond with the Ipilwan Ketzalkoatl (Children of the Plumed Serpent) will be eligible for enrollment into the organization.

Section 3. Adoption: Only those persons who possess a demonstrable degree of Mesoamerican blood, reside in New Mexico, and share a common bond with the Ipilwan Ketzalkoatl (Children of the Plumed Serpent) will be eligible for enrollment into the organization via adoption.

Section 4. Honorary Membership: The Tlahtokan shall have the power to confer honorary membership on anyone. Honorary members shall have no rights or privileges.

Section 5. Loss of Membership: Membership may be taken away for good reason by the organization, or any member may voluntarily give up membership by requesting relinquishment of membership.

Section 6. Membership Rules: The Tlahtokan shall prescribe rules to govern future membership, which shall be agreed upon by majority vote of organizational membership.

Section 7. In addition to the Membership rules stipulated in sections 1-6, one (1) or more of the following forms of documentation must be provided in order to be considered for enrollment:

 

  1. DNA test results exhibiting Mesoamerican ancestry.
  2. Genealogical records fulfilling membership requirements.
  3. Family histories fulfilling membership requirements.
  4. Other historical documents fulfilling membership requirements.
